Andy is a trial lawyer working in the firm’s healthcare and litigation practice areas, concentrating in the defense of medical malpractice claims involving catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death. Andy is also a board-certified pediatric emergency physician.

Andy represents physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice litigation which includes supporting cases from investigation and presuit through formal litigation and resolution. He also counsels our clients in matters relating to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act and the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act. Andy provides immediate on-site investigation as well as expedited medical record analysis and expert review to optimize proactive claims management.

Andy works with a variety of healthcare institutions in matters involving regulatory agencies, licensing boards and peer review panels. He provides expertise in healthcare regulations and has extensively litigated the Patient Safety Privilege protecting Patient Safety Work Product from discovery in litigation.

Andy’s background in both healthcare and law provides unparalleled insight into complex medical issues. He has been named a Florida Super Lawyers – Rising Star for his legal work in medical malpractice defense in 2017 and in 2018.

Andy publishes content regarding developments in healthcare and medical malpractice law. He regularly speaks on medical and legal topics, particularly related to pediatric emergency medicine and risk management. He serves as a guest lecturer at healthcare entities and established a comprehensive database of pediatric emergency medicine literature for fellows and residents.

  • Effected the development of a medicolegal “Rapid Response Team” enabling immediate on-site investigation, evidence preservation, expedited medical record analysis and expert review to optimize claims management.

  • Litigation of the Patient Safety Privilege protecting Patient Safety Work Product from discovery in litigation.

  • Representation and achievement of complete dismissal of a medical malpractice action with prejudice in the first known case to apply the new, heightened standard for determining medical malpractice announced by the Florida Supreme Court in its 2018 decision in National Deaf Academy LLC v Townes.

  • Representation in defense of claims related to retained foreign objects, significant complications after surgery, failure to timely intervene, post procedure infections, medication errors, misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis.
