Abigail Diaz Saldana

Associate

As a member of the firm’s Healthcare Practice Team, Abigail represents a wide range of entities in the healthcare industry, including physicians and hospital systems, in complex medical malpractice matters.

Before joining Smith Hulsey & Busey, Abigail developed her skills clerking at law firms in Florida and Tennessee that focus on litigating complex business and personal injury matters.

Abigail holds a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law and received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Liberty University. While in law school, Abigail was recognized for her outstanding work, winning the Ogden & Sullivan Best Brief Award in 2019. She also participated in various clinics to fine-tune her skills, including specialized training in trial practice, expungement and social media discovery.

One of Abigail’s driving forces is the opportunity to influence those around her positively. Prior to her legal career, Abigail participated in Miss America competitions, winning the Miss Historic Greeneville title in 2019. The position allowed Abigail to sharpen her public speaking skills as a statewide representative of the Greeneville, Tennessee area and granted her the privilege of making a positive impact across the state through her community service.  She also dedicated time to working with the Lean-In organization and heading up fundraisers for Dress for Success to help provide underprivileged women with the resources they need to succeed in the workplace. Her commitment to improving the lives of those in her community didn’t end there. Abigail also volunteered with Isaiah117 House in Tennessee, an organization that provides homes for children awaiting foster care placement. She also earned the title of Miss Colorado’s Outstanding Teen in 2014 and dedicated the year to working with the Children’s Hospital and Ryan Seacrest Foundation in Denver.

Outside the office, Abigail can often be found spending time with family and her two dogs, Birdie and Navy. She also enjoys running, reading, playing the piano and watching true crime shows.
