Joshua D. DeBarba

Associate

Josh DeBarba is a member of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate, Securities & Business Law practice groups, focusing on a broad range of corporate transactional work.

Prior to joining Smith Hulsey & Busey, Josh was a member of the M&A group at an Am Law 50 law firm and the Emerging Companies group at a boutique corporate firm. Most recently, Josh was Assistant General Counsel for Black Diamond Capital Management, an asset management firm with more than $11 billion in assets under management. Josh’s experience enables him to make a substantial contribution to Smith Hulsey & Busey’s M&A practice group.

Josh obtained his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He also has a Master’s in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Cornell University.

Outside of the office, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also loves to golf in his spare time.
