Smith Hulsey & Busey shareholder John R. Thomas has been elected to the firm’s board of directors.
“John has proven himself as a formidable trial lawyer, civic leader and advocate for the firm in his 13 years here,” said chairman Steve Busey. “We welcome his judgment and business acumen to the board of directors.”
Thomas serves on the Board of Directors for Episcopal Children Services, a non-profit agency for underprivileged children in Northeast Flordia. He also serves as Treasurer of the Chester Bedell Foundation Board of Trustees, succeeding Steve Busey, who served in the role for more than 30 years.
Thomas has been named a Florida Trend “Legal Elite” and a Florida Super Lawyers “Rising Star” for his work in business litigation. He was also listed by The Best Lawyers in America® for commercial litigation. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Law and received his bachelor’s degree from Swarthmore College.
