Smith Hulsey & Busey welcomed Catherine (Cat) Gleason and Margaret (Maggie) McQuiddy in September.

Cat’s practice will focus on healthcare, corporate, securities and business law, as well as mergers and acquisitions. As a former SHB summer associate, Cat conducted due diligence, reviewed contract clauses, and worked on several healthcare and M&A matters. Cat also previously interned with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida. She graduated from the Tulane University Law School, serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal in her third year.

Maggie will advise clients in the areas of bankruptcy, labor and employment law, commercial litigation, and sports litigation and counseling. As a former two-time SHB summer associate, she assisted the firm’s litigation and transactional attorneys with legal research and writing across several practice areas, including commercial litigation, mergers and acquisitions, environmental law, healthcare, and real estate. Maggie also graduated from the Tulane University Law School, where she coached its Alternative Dispute Resolution Moot Court Team to win the California Sports Lawyer Negotiation Competition in 2023.

“Cat and Maggie have spent summers at our firm, demonstrating their talent and getting to know our attorneys and clients,” said chairman Steve Busey. “We’re delighted to welcome them and know they will be significant assets to our firm.”

Both women are from the Jacksonville area and look forward to serving clients in their hometown community and beyond.
