Gov. Ron DeSantis Appoints Lanny Russell to Florida’s Judicial Nominating Commission

Smith Hulsey & Busey Shareholder Lanny Russell has been appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to serve on the state’s Fourth Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC). 

Judicial Nominating Commissions are responsible for selecting nominees to fill judicial vacancies throughout the state’s court system. Four JNC appointees are recommended for the position by The Florida Bar Board of Governors and five are selected by the governor.

Russell is an attorney in the firm’s litigation practice group. His work centers on the resolution of complex commercial disputes. 

Russell will serve a four-year term on the JNC, ending on July 1, 2026.
