Smith Hulsey & Busey has been retained by the Jacksonville City Council to assist a new investigative committee that will examine events related to the previously proposed sale of JEA.
Council president Scott Wilson announced this week that he had appointed a special investigative committee of the City Council to examine what happened when JEA put the city-owned utility up for sale. The probe is expected to take several months and include public meetings.
Wilson also announced that the Council hired Steve Busey and the firm to assist the special committee in the performance of its investigation.
“We’re honored to have the opportunity to assist the City with a matter of such importance to the community,” said Busey.
The JEA board voted last month to end negotiations and reject all offers the utility received after the board had issued an invitation to negotiate regarding the privatization of JEA.
