Shareholder Jeanne Helton presented to the Duval County Medical Society for its recent Empowering Employed Physicians webinar. The August 19 event was part of a statewide series designed to support employed physicians in both their personal and professional lives.
Jeanne’s session, “Doctors on Defense: What Puts a Physician’s License on the Line?”, explored the most common issues that place physicians at risk of Department of Health licensure complaints. Drawing from her extensive experience, she discussed:
- Substance abuse, mental health, and disruptive behavior concerns that often lead to investigations
- Practical steps employers can take to address issues early and avoid costly complaints or discrimination claims
- Simple compliance measures — such as updating physician profiles, properly supervising APRNs and PAs, and following Board of Medicine reporting requirements — that can prevent avoidable violations
The program also featured presentations from Gabriel Imperato of Nelson Mullins and Lance Leider of The Health Law Firm, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.
