Smith Hulsey & Busey Promotes Kevin Blodgett to Shareholder

Smith Hulsey & Busey has invited Kevin P. Blodgett to become a shareholder in the firm, effective January 1.  Blodgett joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2018.

“We are proud to welcome Kevin into the partnership,” said Chairman Steve Busey. “Kevin is an extremely talented and thorough lawyer who will be an important part of the firm’s future.”

Blodgett was a critical member of the firm’s team that prepared the Report of the Special Investigatory Committee on JEA Matters , released earlier this month. The special Jacksonville City Council Committee retained Busey and the firm as special counsel last year to assist in its investigation. Blodgett worked closely with members of the Jacksonville City Council and the City’s Office of General Counsel in the firm’s preparation of the report.

As a member of the firm’s Litigation Department, Blodgett’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, creditor’s rights and environmental law. He has experience representing businesses and individuals in civil and commercial litigation throughout the southeastern United States. Blodgett has also helped businesses in adversarial proceedings before the Florida Department of Administrative Hearings, including challenges to administrative rules and bid protests.

A member of The Florida Bar since 2014, Blodgett has represented private and public entities in civil and commercial lawsuits in state and federal court. These disputes involved business torts, contract enforcement, professional negligence and catastrophic personal injuries.

Best Lawyers in America© named Blodgett a 2021 “One to Watch” in Commercial Litigation.
