Smith Hulsey & Busey shareholder Stephen D. Moore Jr. had a chilling encounter on Sept. 10 when he was dunked into a bath of ice water before a crowd of onlookers in Jacksonville. The dunking was part of the ALS Association’s annual CEO Soak event, which the firm supported to raise awareness and funds for ALS research.

ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a devastating neurodegenerative disease that progressively destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, leading to muscle weakness, loss of mobility and, eventually, the ability to speak and breathe.

The ALS Foundation has more information and resources for patients, families and allies here.

Moore is a member of the firm’s board of directors and leads its Mergers & Acquisitions practice. Moore also represents clients and executives in the development of executive compensation packages, including those entered into in connection with mergers and acquisitions.
