For the second straight year since its inception, Smith Hulsey & Busey chairman Stephen D. Busey has been named to the Lawdragon 500 Leading U.S. Bankruptcy & Restructuring Lawyers. The list recognizes leading lawyers across the country who “dazzle in financial restructuring, whether in court or out.”
Founded in 2005, Lawdragon is a New York-based legal media company that publishes free online news and editorial features, including its well-known guides to the nation’s leading lawyers. The publication named Busey to its inaugural list of leading bankruptcy and restructuring lawyers in 2020.
In addition to serving as the firm’s chairman, Busey is the head of its Litigation Department. He centers his practice on complex commercial litigation and insolvency matters. Busey has represented debtors and creditors in chapter 11 reorganizations of publicly held companies, and is experienced in bankruptcy litigation throughout Florida. He is the only Florida lawyer to be ranked an “Eminent Practitioner” in Bankruptcy Litigation by Chambers and Partners and is often called upon by media outlets to share insights on bankruptcy law.
