Megan R. Heiden
Meg is an experienced advisor and litigator working in the firm’s healthcare, labor and employment, and litigation practice areas.
Meg provides counsel to hospitals, nurses, and physicians in defense of catastrophic injury medical malpractice claims and professional licensure actions. Her birth injury litigation experience includes every stage of the claim, from immediate risk assessment and early resolution, administrative proceedings under the Florida Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Act, presuit investigation, and civil litigation.
With her broad range of healthcare experience, Meg helps healthcare clients avoid or respond to litigation arising from their transactional and healthcare regulatory obligations. Meg’s practical knowledge of the way the healthcare industry works allows her to bridge the traditionally siloed litigation, transactional, and regulatory practice areas to provide representation that considers all of her clients’ competing priorities. Meg also enjoys providing legal support for her clients’ quality improvement, patient assistance, and community outreach programs.
Meg also supports the firm’s clients in managing labor and employment issues. She advises and assists with personnel management, litigation prevention, employment contracting, legal requirements for employer practices and procedures, and other related issues.
Meg regularly speaks to attorney groups and healthcare providers statewide on Medicare and Medicaid issues, documentation in the EMR era, emergency consent and surrogacy issues, improving patient outcomes, liability prevention, and defending of claims. She has been named a “Rising Star” by Florida Super Lawyers and a “40 Under 40” by the Jacksonville Business Journal.
