Jacksonville Magazine has named Smith Hulsey & Busey among its 2024 “Companies with Heart.” This is the fourth time the firm has received the designation since 2018.

The magazine recognizes local businesses that contribute to nonprofits and give their employees the time and opportunities to improve the communities where they work and live.

In 2023, Smith Hulsey & Busey devoted about 720 hours to civic service and 850 hours in pro bono legal representation throughout the Jacksonville community. The firm also contributed more than $100,000 to foundations, nonprofits, charities and events across the First Coast, including:

  • Baptist Health Foundation
  • Brooks Health Foundation
  • UF Health Jacksonville
  • Go, Baby, Go! program
  • National MS Society
  • Episcopal Children’s Services
  • Cathedral Arts Project
  • Jacksonville Humane Society
  • Chip Hilton Foundation

  • Flagler Health Care Foundation Inc.

“It is our privilege and obligation to make a positive difference in the First Coast community,” said Steve Busey , chairman of Smith Hulsey & Busey. “While we have volunteered many hours to civic service and pro bono legal representation, the number itself is not the most important thing: it’s about supporting the local people of Jacksonville and meeting their needs where they are.”

Investing in youth and education

Smith Hulsey & Busey has been a long-time annual supporter of the Episcopal Children’s Services, Inc. , a recognized leader in early childhood education, serving more than 27,000 children and their families throughout Northeast Florida.
